SNHM 006: Thanks, this is hard.

The sixth of these.  Do people care about them?  I can’t tell.  Oh well.

The city seems to be stuck, and can’t make up it’s mind whether or not it’s winter yet and fucking annoying. At least in Saskatchewan you knew it was winter.  Because you nearly die if you go anywhere a door without 8 sweaters on.  Anyways.  I think this playlist is made of out stuckness.  Is a thing?  I don’t know.  It also only features bands that start with only the first couple letters of the alphabet because I’m kind of lazy.  Anyways, I think it works.  And speaking of lazy, I haven’t put this in an any order.  Flag & Family is the work of a friend of mine and I think you should check out his stuff and download the album for free.  It’s on facebook or something of that nature.

Baby Come On Home    Baby Eagle    No Blues
More Than This (Live)    Electrelane    Singles, B-Sides & Live
We Have Nothing Worth Saying/We Have Nothing Worth Saving    Flag & Family    We All Need Friends (Climb Aboard The Friendship) (Disc 2)
Hey Garland    Canada    This Cursed House
Scenesters    Andrew Jackson Jihad    Candy Cigarettes and Cap Guns
Art Isn’t Real (City of Sin)    Deer Tick    War Elephant
Miss You Now    Elliott Brood    Mountain Meadows
The List    Defiance, Ohio    The Fear, The Fear, The Fear
Quiet Houses    Fleet Foxes    Fleet Foxes
Bear    The Antlers    Hospice
Vacationing People    Foreign Born    Person To Person
On a Highway    Animal Collective    Fall Be Kind
Kurt Vonnegut    Born Ruffians    Red, Yellow And Blue
Look Up Look Down That Lonesome Road    Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir    Fighting and Onions
Used To Be    Beach House    Teen Dream
Skinny Boy    Amy Millan    Honey From The Tombs
Save It    The Cramps    Bad Music for Bad People

The next couple of these will probably be my favourites of the year and the decade type things.  Let me know what you think of them, it’s validation for this relatively self gratifying thing of me sharing other people’s art.  Paisleac@hotmail.com.

You know you're from Saskatchewan when:

no matter how fucking cold or disgusting it is, you still got outside for your cigarette.

Scene Not Herd Mixes 005: Gravity's got nothing on us now.

I actually took this picture! This is the lovely Kay captured on Artistic TZ Polaroid film with an old Land Camera.  Oh summer and friends, how I miss thee.

Anyways. This is basically what I’ve been listening too lately.  They go well with buses, late nights or the falling sky.  I hope you’ll forgive the two covers on one mix and the longer songs, especially Idiot Heart but I couldn’t not put it on here.  It’s too good.

Some Things Last A Long Time    Beach House
The Origin of Love    Hedwig And The Angry Inch
The Other One    The Wooden Birds
Idiot Heart    Sunset Rubdown
Bicycle    Memory Tapes
50mph    Memory Cassette
We Have All We Ever Wanted    YACHT
Mockingbird    Papercuts
Vacationing People    Foreign Born
Face To Face On High Places    School of Seven Bells
I Say Fever    Ramona Falls
Days Drag    Holiday Shores
Thriller (Michael Jackson Cover)    Imogen Heap

If you have thoughts, comments, requests, all that send them to paisleac@hotmail.com.  Or if you just want to talk.  That’s cool too.

Also.  I hope none of you thought, “Oh cool a Built For Spill cover” when you read the tracklist.

This is amazing.

Why didn’t someone tell me Andrew Kenny was making folk music?
Magnolia is spectacular by the way.

Scene Not Herd 004: Look me in the eyes.

If I were Bono I would say this is number fourteen, but as I am not we’ll go with the fourth.  The title and the picture should become pretty obvious by merely glancing at the tracklist.  There’s some post-rock and dream pop in there but we’ll leave that alone.  So here we go.

Failure    A Sunny Day in Glasgow
It’s Personal    The Radio Dept.
Just Like Honey    The Jesus and Mary Chain
Catch The Breeze    Slowdive
Walkabout (w/Noah Lennox)    Atlas Sound
Little Kids    Deerhunter
Ahab    Here We Go Magic
Glussi    Stafrænn Hákon
Track 02    Frakkur
Hljómalind    Sigur Rós
Iceblink Luck    Cocteau Twins
Stop    Pornopop
Whiteout    Lotus Plaza
Pink Cloud Tracing Paper    Asobi Seksu
Honey Power    My Bloody Valentine
don”t save us from the flames    M83
I Know You Can Smile    Slowblow

Please, let me know what you think.  And if you have any requests or questions send them all to paisleac@hotmail.com.  I love talking about music, it’s all I have.
